Jim Lachimia Named Associate Editor

Former PR Executive for Two MLB Teams Has Worked in and Around the Game for 35 Years

Thursday, March 3, 2022 – Grandstand Publishing LLC announced today that Jim Lachimia has been named Associate Editor of Baseball Digest. In that role, he will work with Editor-in-Chief Rick Cerrone and the Baseball Digest team to plan and produce the bi-monthly national publication which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. Lachimia will replace Thom Henninger, who is retiring after 10 years at Baseball Digest but will continue as Social Media Editor.

Lachimia, 62, is a former public relations executive with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1986-94) and Kansas City Royals (1996-2000) who has worked in Major League Baseball since 1986. For the past 21 years, he has served as the editor and lead writer of the Pirates’ official game-day magazine.

“Jim has spent 35 years in and around Major League Baseball and we are very excited to have him join the Baseball Digest team,” said Cerrone, the publication’s editor-in-chief since 2018. “His abilities as well as the many relationships he has built and maintained throughout the game will be great assets in keeping this iconic brand vibrant and relevant as we begin our ninth decade.”

The Pittsburgh native and 1981 graduate of Duquesne University (bachelor’s degree in journalism) has contributed feature stories to Baseball Digest for the past four years. His resume also includes work published by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Magazine, Pittsburgh Sports Report, Pirates.com, USA Today, and Major League Baseball Properties.
